Who is Jak Lewis & What Is My Career Aim

Who is Jak Lewis?

Hi I'm Jak!

I'm a pretty standard guy, well a short standard guy.. 5.2 to be exact... ginger and I play guitar (not Ed Sheeran) XD

I used to open up sets as the budget Ed Sheeran but that stuck and well a ginger guy and a guitar singing songs was doomed to stay in Eds name forever..  so I'm now out there as Jak 🙂

So hi 🙂

Press Statement
5 ★ Musician, Jak Lewis has experience performing at a multitude of events and is guaranteed to amaze your guests!

“With an incredible start to the year, after winning prestige awards South West Performer of the year 2020/21 and reaching No.8 in the N1M National Indie Charts, up and coming Artist Jak Lewis, has been creating quite a stir online with his new release Never Stops.

He’s seen incredible social media growth, with Reverbnation showing a breathtaking climb in the global charts overnight for Lewis. Climbing from over 2000 to 109 in the global ranking and number 1 in Local ranking. His online support has grown massively in America and within the UK, and has shown that there is increasing support around the globe. Growing everyday.

Lewis has currently been working hard on the creation and promotion of his due to be released EP Childhood memories, where he hopes the EP will help those in a place he found himself in not so long ago. Lewis has had some incredible success in his short career so far, he has performed on the likes of BBC Spotlight Southwest, Bristol stages once held by the likes of Ed Sheeran and George Ezra and not to mention opening up for Lee Nelson.

He mentions one of his proudest moments was performing in collaboration of Mental Health Awareness, to which he performed his song Never Truly Alone, which was released as part of raising money for Mental Health Charities.

So far, during the short time of his career, he has performed an impressive amount of venues in and around London, Devon, Cornwall and Bristol. Uniquely, Dartmoor Zoo, featured on BBC Spotlight Southwest with his original song Promise and being selected to the second round of The Voice with his original song Promise'.

His inspiration comes from the likes of John Mayer, The Neighbourhood, The animals and may more artists, he specifically mentioned these artists for their lyrical sound, he explains how their lyrics tell stories and how he'd love to portray that in his own work one day. His style has always been a topic of conversation, however with this recent year, it has given Lewis the time to understand his music better and find inspiration and creative flow in the Indie-Pop genre. Which his recent song Never Stops, direction was taken in.

Jak Lewis overall, isn’t the typical artist, but he definitely is an artist to watch, he brings a refreshing change to the music scene with a new sound and a new style and approach to music."
What is my aim?

I have released a fair few original songs to find my footing and aim within the industry, and feel I have now found where  I want to head musically. My career goal is to create feel good music, promote positivity and create music based on personal experiences in the hope it could help others who have gone through similar experiences. For those who feel they have nothing else to relate to.

Throughout my career I hope to achieve positivity and the ability to preform on well known stages to promote positivity through music, by making feel good songs, relatable songs and music for those who need it.

I have spent the last year bringing who I am Jak Lewis to light and releasing music that I feel truly represents who I am as an artist. I spent a few months struggling with mental health which focused me on my career goal, making a difference in the world with my music, and this is where I want my career to go.

All in all, I am a regular guy, in an unusual world, who wants to make a change with the music he makes.

My passion is life is music and always has been, all I've ever dreamt about is singing on stage, having my songs played on the radio and being that guy who's song everyone knows.
I have this overwhelming drive in me to get to that point in my life where I'm playing on big stages, my songs to people who know them and are singing with me, songs which people can relate too, songs I needed when I was younger and could maybe help someone.

I want to be the role model I never had and thats what I'm aiming to be. That's my future aspiration.

Performing Highlights

One major performing highlight was at a show down in North Devon. It was a sunny Saturday afternoon, the audience was incredible as always, and I was midway through a song. I was panning around the audience, hearing them singing the song with me, when at the left of my eye.. I see a table of people holding on to a large umbrella (one that shades the table from the sun), a large gust of wind caught the umbrella and they all at once, kind of swept away with the umbrella... I think there was 4 of them all together.

I can just remember, trying to hold it together whilst the audience let out this roar of laughter and as they looked to me trying to hold it together through this song.. but I couldn't and cracked... I screeched into the microphone and said I'm so sorry I can't hold it in anymore and we all just laughed for a solid 5 minutes, the people who were taken with the umbrella included..

From then on out, the day was filled with laughter, jokes and constant lyric changes it was amazing... a personal highlight!!

What Inspired Me As An Artist

The things that inspired me as an artist are the same things that inspire me now. Making a difference. Being the difference.

Thats really it, I hope to one day sell out shows, clubs, pubs, festivals and stadiums... I hope to play my songs to crowds so big that when they sing its so loud I can still hear it the next day. My dream is to be a difference in this world, and to make a difference with music. Every injustice, every wrong in the world inspires me to keep working and write more, to keep working on the music I want to release that could help someone, or help inspire others.

I really enjoy what I do, I may get nervous at every performance, but there is no better feeling than hearing the audience sing with you, laugh with you and smile with you.
